Brest is the administrative center of the Brest region (oblast). It is located in the South-West of Belarus about 360 km from Minsk, the capital.
With its 1000 year long history Brest has often been involved in the turbulence of major European war events. Being destroyed several times it was reborn as Phoenix anew.
Brest of today is a fast growing city but still it preserves the comfort and pace of provincial life.
Brest’s harmonious urban environment provides a variety of settings for active and passive recreation: green spaces, parks, sports centers.
For many years Brest has been the venue for annual seasonal events, among which are the international theatre festival “Belaya Vezha” (autumn), the classical music festival “January Music Evenings” (winter), and the international bike festival (spring).
Brest Fortress, an evidence of the disastrous World War II, has always been the city’s main historical site.
