On May 31, 2026, students from the Mechanical Engineering and Economics departments, led by Svetlana Vladimirovna Gribova, Associate Professor of the Humanities Department, and with the organizational support of the BrSTU Primary Student Trade Union, led by Tatyana Vasilyevna Strelkova, took a journey into the history of their native land.
The students attended a reenactment of the military events of 1941–1945 at the Khovanshchina Partisan Glory Memorial Complex (Ivatsevichi District), which was attended by 12 military-patriotic clubs! Traditionally, on the last Sunday of May, several hundred spectators from Belarus and other countries gather at this historic site for this event, and this year was no exception. The students were impressed by the scale and authenticity of the event. They were able to immerse themselves in the tragic events of the occupation period in Belarus during the Great Patriotic War and participate in organized quests on the history of the partisan movement. It's worth noting that this year, the Khovanshchina Memorial Complex of Partisan Glory celebrates its anniversary – 55 years since its creation.
As part of this Sunday's trip, the children also visited the estate and museum of our distinguished fellow countryman Napoleon Orda, who was born in 1807 in Vorotsevichi (now the Ivanovo District). He was a true "one-man band": musician, composer, artist, sculptor, writer, and teacher. He was friends with Adam Mickiewicz and Frederic Chopin.
Thanks to his paintings of palace complexes and estates, it is now possible to restore them if they were destroyed during historical events, as in many cases, these are the only surviving images of them.
Overall, the trip broadened the students' horizons, enriched them with new knowledge about the history of their country, and introduced them to its historical and cultural heritage, which contributed to the patriotic education of young people.
