On December 10, Brest State Technical University hosted an important roundtable discussion, "Remember to Live," dedicated to the International Day of Remembrance and Dignity of the Victims of the Crime of Genocide and the Prevention of This Crime.
Particularly noteworthy were the guests of the meeting: Zoya Alekseyevna Tolstik, a former underage prisoner of Nazi concentration camps, and Anna Tarasovna Onishchuk, Chair of the Brest City Veterans Council. Zoya Alekseyevna spoke candidly to the students about the horrors she experienced in the death camps located in Germany, revealing the full cruelty of the regime of that time. She emphasized that the facts of the genocide of the Belarusian people during the Great Patriotic War are irrefutable and testify to the terrible price of Victory, paid with the lives of millions of people.
The students had a unique opportunity to hear living stories from eyewitnesses who retained the memory of the ordeals of their youth.
"We must remember all the horrors of Nazism so that it does not happen again in the future," those present were reminded of the importance of preserving historical memory.
