A Conversation on Security in the Digital Age: Cybercrime Prevention

Brest State Technical University hosted a meeting between students and staff with law enforcement officials. The topic of discussion was cybercrime prevention, which is becoming increasingly important with the development of modern digital technologies. Every user is exposed to numerous risks daily, often without even realizing the full gravity of the situation.

The event was attended by Alexander Fedorovich Talatynnik, Deputy Head of the Internal Affairs Department of the Brest Moskovsky District Administration, and Kirill Ruslanovich Kondratyuk, an operative of the Cybercrime Prevention Department. The guests discussed the most common types of cyberthreats faced by people today: fraudulent emails disguised as official notifications from popular platforms, identity theft, and psychological manipulation techniques used to extort personal information.

"The internet is not only an opportunity, but also a responsibility." "Every online action leaves a trace," Alexander Fedorovich emphasized, citing real-life examples of cases law enforcement agencies encounter.

Special attention was paid to legal aspects: students were taught the legal consequences of illegal online activity, including criminal liability for certain offenses.
